1 - San Martin School: Classroom

Nicaragua, 2009, Education

Project #15 of 411

San Martin School in Matagalpa had 150 students from preschool to 6th grade. However, they only had two old classrooms, both made of wood planks and corrugated metal. One had been divided into two by a plastic sheet to provide a "third classroom" space. We built a large, bright, classroom that will last for many years.

2 - Santa Isabel School: Classroom

Nicaragua, 2011, Education

Project #20 of 411

Located on a coffee plantation, Santa Isabel School held all their classes in an old wooden coffee storage building. However, it was needed for storage during the harvest season, so there could be no school at that time of the year. With their beautiful, new, purpose-built classroom they can hold classes year-round.

It replaced a wooden coffee bean storage shed that had been their only classroom, and wasn't available during the coffee harvest season. Sixteen of our volunteer students traveled to Nicaragua to help with the construction.

4 - Tepeyac School: Classroom

Nicaragua, 2013, Education

Project #43 of 411

Tepeyac School was too small to accommodate all the students at one time, so they had to attend school in shifts. This caused a strain on families that had children attending school at different times of day. We built a classroom so now all of the children can attend all day, and a kitchen so the students can have lunch.
