TGUP, in partnership with Kiini, funded the construction of 4 pit latrines for the girls at the Ngungu Secondary School in Kirinyaga, Kenya. The existing old toilets are in a deplorable condition causing many girls to skip school, especially during their periods.

Construction was started by clearing a space for the new latrines – the students helped carry stones so the workers could start to dig the pit latrine to a depth of 45′. After the digging and the interior of the pit is reinforced with stone, a slab is laid. Then the walls can be built.
