1 - Gikumbo School: Latrines

TGUP provided design, materials, supervision and labor while working alongside the people of the community, to build 4 pit latrines and a urinal, to replace the condemned latrines at Gikumbo School in Kirinyaga.

2 - Mbuluyenji Primary School: Latrines

We built a new set of four latrines for students and staff at Mbuluyenji Primary School in Mambwe District. The old latrines were near collapse. We used a UNICEF design, adapted for local soil conditions.

We gave health education and reusable sanitary supplies to 100 girls in Nepal. Now they will not miss a week of school every month, and will be able to reach their educational potential.

4 - Manyesa School: Water Well

Malawi, 2018, Water

Project #97 of 413

The old well in Manyesa produced only salty water. We drilled a new well that is now providing clean drinking water for the people and livestock, and irrigation for the crops. The capped well, with solar controls can produce up to 100 gallons per minute and is allowing the villagers to grow a second crop each year.

5 - Save a Girl 2018K: Save a Girl Nyeri 18

800 girls and women can now live normal, productive lives every week of the month since they received Save a Girl kits. Our partner in this coffee and dairy farming area is also training the women in rural based financial management.

6 - Los Laureles School: Library

We built a new 12x8 meter building to be shared by 5 local schools. It will serve as a library, a study hall, a community center, and on weekends as a classroom for adult education.

500 girls in Zambia received Save a Girl kits and will now be able to complete high school. They are feeling empowered with their washable kits, newfound knowledge and the self defense moves they have mastered.

8 - El Paraiso: Classroom

Due to increased enrollment, the kitchen at the El Paraiso School had to be converted to a preschool classroom. Not only was this not a suitable classroom but the kitchen could no longer serve meals. We built an entire new classroom for the preschool class.

9 - Setidevi School: Science Lab

The Setidevi Secondary School in southern Kathmandu had 205 students and 21 staff but no science lab. We equipped a classroom so it can be used as a science lab including purchasing all supplies and equipment needed.

10 - Nyeri Sewing Center: Sewing Center

We set up a sewing center in Nyeri to produce reusable sanitary supplies for our Save a Girl program. The sewing center will be self-sustaining by also making and selling school uniforms, etc. We funded the set up of the sewing center (sewing machines, serger, fabrics, etc.) and paid for 200 Save a Girl kits.

11 - Chyangthapu: Birthing Center

Panchthar is a district with a population of 195,460 and 5,300 pregnancies per year. Most of the roads are dirt that wash out during the monsoon, making travel impossible. Most women have no pregnancy health services, maternity services are under-utilized and low in quality. This was our 12th birthing center refurbishment.

12 - Bali Phase 3: Latrines

We built 24 engineered latrines throughout Ban to insulate the water supply from human waste. The units cost $250 each to install. All of the costs of the project were for materials: concrete blocks; cement; pipes; toilets; and roofing, as all of the labor for the project was contributed by local residents.
